Barclaycard US colleagues volunteered 35,000 hours to the community in 2010.  More than 1,300 colleagues were involved in volunteerism, representing 95 percent engagement with community programs.

Some 46 percent of colleagues were involved in fund-raising for causes.  Colleagues raised $468,874 dollars - with $324,253 matched by Barclays.  Colleagues donated $244,549 during the United Way campaign.  The total donated to all causes by BCUS colleagues in 2010 was $1,037,676, which represents approximately $745 per colleague.

"Barclaycard US colleagues continue to amaze me," said Jocelyn Stewart who heads up community relations for the business.  "The incredible generosity of both their time and money is something that is not seen at other companies. Every colleague should feel proud of the enormous impact they have had on the less fortunate this year."

Other gifts to the community from BCUS employees included:

  • donation of 171 blood units during the Summer Blood Challenge, saving 513 lives
  • adoption of 53 young adults for the West End Neighborhood House Christmas gift campaign
  • 500 items of clothing donated during the clothing drive
  • 90 students mentioned each week at EastSide Learning Center
  • colleagues reading to more than 1,000 students during "Make a Difference Day"

Barclaycard US thanks all colleagues for their commitment to the community in 2010.
