Colleagues donate during two summer blood drives
Barclaycard US came in first place in the large company category for the Bloodbank of Delmarva Summer Blood Drive Challenge. More than 220 Barclaycard US volunteers and donors secured 171 whole blood units during June and August. The blood units have the ability to save more than 513 lives.
Barclaycard US finished ahead of Citi, HSBC N.A., ING in the large category, and even more impressive, finished ahead of Bank of America -- which is in the extra large company category.
"Our overwhelming commitment to the community sets Barclaycard US apart from the industry, and our colleagues should be very proud to be ‘heroes for life" for so many of our neighbors." said Joe Randazzo, Summer Blood Drive Challenge co-sponsor.
"We appreciate colleagues\' commitment to this effort," said Rakesh Bailwal, co-sponsor. "Barclaycard US participation is another example of our company being a good community citizen."
Blood drives were held at Barclaycard US June 30 and August 25.
"A record number of businesses and organizations signed on to save lives in the 8th Annual Summer Blood Challenge and they provided more blood donations than ever before," according to the Bloodbank of Delmarva. "Their efforts saved the lives of up to 21,000 local patients this summer."
