For the fourth year in a row Barclaycard US was named one of the top places to work in Delaware, according to a survey of area employees sponsored by The News Journal, Delaware\'s largest circulation newspaper.
The "Best in the Business" list identifies the leading workplaces in the area based on the opinions of employees as gathered in online and written surveys. The results of the employee survey were compared across organizations to determine which companies earn the "Best in the Business" recognition.
"Any other year (such) an award would be a fine feather in a cap," Doug Williams of the News-Journal wrote in covering the survey in an Aug. 2 article. "But after the year that was, such a prize seems more a mix of private sector Purple Heart and pure magic, given that the major human resources themes this year were cutbacks, givebacks and doing more with less."
Some 97 employers took part in this year\'s survey with 29,676 Delaware workers submitting responses. Barclaycard US ranked seventh in the ‘large company\' division of which there were 26 participating firms. Companies with more than 240 employees compete in this division.
Delaware workers "value strong management vision, values and ethics, opportunity to learn, grow and excel, and a chance to contribute to decision-making," Williams reported.
Barclaycard US also received this designation in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
