A Message from Antony Jenkins: Barclaycard Acquires Premises in New York

I am pleased to share with you some exciting news that Barclaycard is to open a new office in the New York City area. Our Metlife Plaza office is based in the regeneration zone of Long Island City across the river from Manhattan, and will open on 24 November 2008.

In order to execute our new vision of owning the world of simple payment and support our increasingly global business we need to be able to access the best talent pools worldwide. This new office will house colleagues from various functions with an emphasis on analytics; these teams will support areas of Barclaycard around the world. As our business expands we expect to grow the number of colleagues based here over time, with short term focus on hiring roles that are critical to our success.

In this challenging environment, I know you may wonder why we have made this move. Let me reassure you this is a positive step and an endorsement of Barclaycard\'s success. By drawing on global expertise we can accelerate our business growth, continuing on our global journey through investing in the right areas.
