Approximately 100 colleagues donated blood at the 2008 Blood Bank of Delmarva blood drive that was held on site in Wilmington on Aug. 20.
This year, the goal of Barclaycard US was to have 100 colleagues participate in the blood drive. Not only was that goal reached, but there was a colleague waiting list to donate. Joe Randazzo and Rakesh Bailwal, this year\'s Blood Drive coordinators, said the event was "an overwhelming success."
Colleagues gave blood at a specially created facility which operated all day at the Rock Center in the Dryrock Building. The on-site blood donation unit was professionally staffed and the room was prepared to ensure cleanliness and safety.
Colleagues who gave blood received a small gift to commemorate their participation.
At the end of the summer, all donors in the Delmarva Peninsula will be entered into a sweepstakes operated by the Blood Bank to win a cruise to any destination of choice (maximum $2,000 value) or a $500 fuel card.
